1. Wear sunscreen every day.

We’re not talking about scented coconut cream that clogs your pores. There are plenty of options for sunscreen products on the market these days. However, our advice is to start using a BB cream that has SPF protection as well. At Skin Essentials@bod:evolve, we think you’ll agree that vibrant, glowing skin in your fifties will be much better than an evenly bronzed complexion. Try Skin Medica’s® new Super Screen product that protects against UVA, UVB, and infrared rays.

2. Never sleep in your makeup.

You’re in your 20’s and 30’s and sometimes other things take priority. We get it! However, it is a horrible idea to fall asleep with your makeup on. Try washing your makeup off when you first get home. That way, you can’t fall asleep with it on. Lipstick, mascara, and foundation should all be removed before heading to bed. Leaving these products on your face can clog your pores, cause acne breakouts, and even age your face faster too.

3. But be careful how you remove your makeup.

Makeup is made to be very long lasting, so it is important to thoroughly cleanse your face. Always try and be careful with how you choose to remove your makeup. Makeup wipes are a big no-no. They can dry out the skin and leave it irritated and unhappy. When it comes to eye makeup, it is best not to rub or tug, because it can be very stressful for the delicate skin of your eyelids, which can ultimately impact the development of crow’s feet and wrinkles. Instead, try something like a mild facial soap, which will be gentler on your skin, and then follow up with Skin Medica’s TNS Eye Repair.

4. Make your skin care routine short as possible.

Cleanse with a good cleanser and Clarisonic. Apply your serum, antioxidants, and retinols. If the sun is on the way up, apply your sunscreen last. Then head out the door.

5. Get a chemical peel or microdermabrasion at least twice a year.

You brush your teeth every day, but you still have them professionally cleaned every 6 months. The same is necessary for your skin. You wash your face daily, but the surface cells need to be cleaned off regularly to promote new skin cell growth.

6. Start using eye cream now.

As someone who is in their 20’s or 30’s it doesn’t make much sense to start using anti-aging products. Right? Wrong! You need to begin using anti-aging products when you are young to ensure that your skin stays healthy and youthful as you age. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Ask your skin care provider which eye cream to use now.

7. Keep your hands off!

Don’t touch your face whatsoever. We mean this wholeheartedly. Your hands contain oils that will agitate the skin and encourage acne to take over. In addition, blemishes will stick around up to three times longer.

8. Keep your skin moisturized, inside and out.

Be sure to drink plenty of water. Hydration can impact your skin significantly and hydrated moisturized skin will glow with an even and clear appearance. If you’re still feeling too dry, consider adding a moisturizer to your routine.
