Jessi Before Plastic Surgery

Jessi Goes Under Dr. Broadway’s Knife Before Going Down Under

For Jessi, having Dr. Broadway perform her plastic surgery was an obvious choice. Jessi has worked with Dr. Broadway for the past three years. During that time, she’s gotten to see first-hand how Dr. Broadway treats every patient with respect and makes their cosmetic dreams come true with outstanding results. In Jessi’s words, Dr. Broadways is a fantastic surgeon and a great human being.

The procedure

Jessi is having Dr. Broadway perform septoplasty and rhinoplasty procedures. The goal for her plastic surgery is to correct her deviated septum and address a few aesthetic things.

Septoplasty surgeries are done to correct a deviated nasal septum. The wall of cartilage and bone that separates your nostrils is called a septum. When the septum is out of position, it can cause breathing problems and discomfort. This is called a deviated septum. Plastic surgeons can restructure the cartilage in your nose to improve airflow and correct the problem. A deviated septum can be caused by a nose injury, but some people are born with the problem.

Rhinoplasty procedures modify the bones and cartilage in your nose. Most rhinoplasty patients are looking to resize or reshape their nose, removing bumps and straightening crooked noses. Rhinoplasty surgeries are either closed or open. Closed operations involve a small incision inside your nose. Open procedures require additional incisions that raise the skin off of your nose.

The nerves

Although Jessi is completely confident in Dr. Broadway and his experienced staff, she’s still a little nervous before her procedure. Jessi knows her surgeon and she has a personal relationship with the nurses who will help make her septoplasty and rhinoplasty go smoothly. Connecting with their plastic surgeon helps put many patients at ease before a plastic surgery operation. Anxiety and nerves before your procedure are normal and expected. Schedule additional consultations with your doctor to discuss your questions and concerns. Education is one of the best ways to fight the anxiety around your surgery. At the end of the day, focus on the results. Even with her nerves, Jessi was excited about the operation and her new nose.

On the morning of her operation, Jessi had to switch up her routine. She didn’t drink any coffee, she didn’t apply makeup or lotion, and she didn’t put on any jewelry.

Doctors also recommend that patients stop smoking at least two weeks before their plastic surgery. You should also avoid taking aspirin or ibuprofen before rhinoplasty surgery because these medications can cause nosebleeds.

The recovery process for nose surgeries can be lengthy. Patients can expect to wear a cast for at least a week. After the cast is removed, there might be some swelling for up to a year after the procedure. It’s common for temporary bruising to occur under a patient’s eyes.

Jessi mentions that she couldn’t snuggle with her cats because of the surgery. Dr. Broadway recommends keeping the contact with animals to a minimum after your procedure. Pets sometimes carry germs and bacteria that can cause infections in your incision. It’s best to let everything heal for a couple days before cuddling with your furry friends.

For a quick recovery and additional comfort, avoid strenuous activity and extreme facial expressions. Laughing can be painful after a rhinoplasty or septoplasty procedure. Doctors also recommend wearing button-up shirts so you don’t have to pull anything over your head. Sleeping with a neck pillow can elevate your head and decrease swelling faster. Eat soft foods and brush your teeth gently. Don’t wear glasses or sunglasses for the first couple weeks after surgery because the pressure on your nose can be painful and disrupt the healing process.

Jessi was worried about the timing of her septoplasty and rhinoplasty procedures. She wanted to make sure there would be enough recovery time between going under anesthesia for her operation and her upcoming trip Down Under. Fortunately, Dr. Broadway is confident that she will be ready to scuba dive in Australia within four weeks of her operation. It’s important to discuss your recovery timeline with your plastic surgeon. Intense physical activity is not recommended immediately after nose plastic surgery procedures.

Jessi wanted to correct her deviated septum with a septoplasty procedure. While Dr. Broadway improved her airway, he also made some cosmetic adjustments to Jessi’s nose. Dr. Broadway was the best choice for Jessi because of his experience and his genuine care for each patient. Even though Jessi works with Dr. Broadway and is familiar with plastic surgery procedures, she still faced the usual nerves surrounding an operation. As Jessi recovers from her nose procedures and prepares for a trip to Australia, we’ll continue to follow her story throughout the recovery process.
