What options do you offer for eyelid surgery?

Blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery, is the key to a younger, more vibrant appearance for people with droopy eyes. A person’s eyes are often considered their most important feature and shouldn’t be hidden behind sagging, baggy eyelids. According to Dr. Broadway, techniques in eyelid and brow-lifting surgery are safe, easy and require minimal recovery time. Depending on the patient, the surgery can often be done with local anesthesia. For example, an upper eyelid lift only takes about an hour and most people resume normal activities within a few days and begin exercising after two weeks. There will be minor swelling and bruising, but it will disappear after 7-14 days. You will see instant results as the swelling goes down. Most patients are overjoyed with their new fresh look.

Why is eyelid surgery such a great option?

Eyelid surgery is one of the simplest facial surgeries you can have for such a major impact. Lifting the eyelids opens up your eyes, providing a more youthful appearance. It can have a major impact for those concerned about signs of aging.

Who is a good candidate for Blepharoplasty?

Any person in general good health who wants to add youth to their look with eyelid surgery may be a good candidate. Usually, signs of aging around the eyelid area, such as wrinkles, bags, or sagging skin, can be treated quite effectively.

What can I and can't I do right before surgery?

The Broadway Plastic Surgery staff will give you instructions to prepare for surgery, including guidelines on eating and drinking, smoking, and taking or avoiding certain vitamins and medications. While making preparations, be sure to arrange for someone to drive you home after your surgery and to help you out for a few days, if needed.

Can I wear glasses or contacts right after my surgery?

Patients should be able to immediately wear glasses and sunglasses, right after their procedure. However, we recommend that you wait a full week before inserting contacts into your eyes.

Will I have a scar from my eyelid lift?

Most patients do not have a visible scar once they have completed their healing and recovery. Technically, all surgeries leave scars, but eyelid surgery is one of the least noticeable. There will be some initial hairline scars, but once healing is complete, they will be pratically invisible to the naked eye. The incisions are typically made in your eyelid’s natural creases which makes them even harder to see. Also, the eyelid skin heals faster and better than most other areas of your body.

Will insurance cover a Blepharoplasty?

Unlike most other cosmetic surgeries, an eyelid lift may qualify for insurance coverage if the surgery is to help relieve any medical problems, such as impaired vision. Check with your insurance company to find out what type of coverage you have and what type of referral you would need in order to get the charges approved.
