Expectations After Breast Augmentation Surgery

The First Few Months

Most patients (but not all) will be off pain medication within 2-4 days. Normal activity usual is seen within the first week and at two weeks, light exercise can be started.

The implants should be fully settled into place within two months or so and the final results will be within 6 months. The incisions will continue heal for twelve to eighteen months slowly improving in appearance.

A Word About Scars

The incisions from your breast augmentation surgery will turn firm and pink, for about six weeks post-surgery. Eventually, the scars will dramatically fade, but will never completely disappear. Fortunately, in the hands of a highly skilled cosmetic surgeon like Dr. Broadway, special suture techniques will ensure incisions are properly placed and closed so that your scars will fade until they are almost impossible to detect. Following doctor’s orders after surgery is another way you can contribute to scars that are barely noticeable. We supply our patients with a silicone gel scar cream to enhance healing and minimize scarring.

Our practice offers all breast augmentation surgery patients three complimentary in-office scar treatments following your surgery with a Skin Essentials staff member. Depending on your needs, Impulse Light Therapy (IPL) or microdermabrasion therapy can be used to ensure that your scars are minimized as much as possible.
