Popular Plastic Surgeries in Each State

The plastic surgery market continues to expand as more and more people seek cosmetic enhancements. Aging Baby Boomers are a large part of the plastic surgery demographic, especially as acceptance of cosmetic procedures increases. In addition to a growing number of cosmetic procedures across the board, non-surgical enhancements are also on the rise. Fillers target specific areas of the face and body without invasive surgeries.

Just because people are searching for these procedures, doesn’t mean they’re actually getting them done. Although breast augmentation is the most popular procedure nation-wide, liposuction is the most commonly searched procedure in the most states. Fifteen states search liposuction more than any other cosmetic procedure, compared with only 10 states that have breast implants as the most commonly searched plastic surgery.

It’s interesting to note that geographic regions tend to have similar preferences for plastic surgery. Liposuction is most popular in the South, penis enlargement is common across the Midwest and the NorthWest is interested in breast implants. When it comes to breast implants, previous trends indicated that people prefer smaller, perkier, more athletic-looking implants. However, new data shows that women are moving back to bigger and better breast implants.

Plastic surgery trends are on the rise across the board. In addition to checking out which procedures are popular in each state, we looked at which U.S. cities are plastic surgery hubs. Based on plastic surgeons per capita, here are the top five city populations with a high number of plastic surgeons.

San Fransisco

In 2010, San Francisco, California performed more cosmetic surgeries than any other US city. They rank second when comparing the number of plastic surgeons per city.

Beverly Hills

Not surprising, Beverly Hills tops our list as the city with the most plastic surgeons per capita. Beverly Hills and Los Angeles California are often lumped into the same region when considering plastic surgeons. In the six-mile Beverly Hills area, there are at least 72 cosmetic surgeons.
